NewTeeVee reports that metacafe raised $30 million in VC.
Tick-tick-tick-boom! That’s going to be the sound of the bubble bursting when the video sites bust. MetaCafe was one of the first sites to pay content providers for their content. After a 1,000 or so views, every 1,000 views a video got, MetaCafe would pay the content provider $5. The most watched video on the site was a video of a karate instructor.
It’s great way to get exciting content. I’m just not sure it’s working so far.
